Adoption Terms

These terms cover reserving a kitten from Golden Charm Cattery. The full sales agreement and health guarantee are signed at adoption. A copy is available on request before you pay anything.
Prices
Our adoption fee starts from $3,200 in Canadian dollars. Each litter carries its own price, shown on the kitten page. The price of a kitten is the price shown on its page on the day you reserve it.
Deposit
A deposit of $400 holds a place.
- It comes off the total adoption fee.
- It is non refundable. It covers the cost of holding the kitten for you.
- Places are held in the order deposits arrive.
- Send it by Interac e-transfer to goldencharmcattery@gmail.com.
- Your place is confirmed once the deposit reaches us.
- By agreement with us, a deposit moves to another available kitten or to a future litter.
What the fee includes
- age appropriate vaccinations
- spay or neuter
- a microchip
- a health guarantee, set out in full in the sales agreement
- a starter kit with one week of food and toys
- a TICA registration slip, released once we receive proof of spay or neuter
Paying the balance
The balance is due in full at pickup. We accept e-transfer. A kitten leaves once the full amount has reached us.
Health guarantee
Every kitten is examined by a licensed veterinarian before it leaves, and goes home with a written health record.
The health guarantee is set out in full in our sales agreement, which you sign at adoption. In short, it requires a veterinary examination within 72 hours of pickup and it covers named genetic conditions. Ask us for a copy at any time before you pay.
Pickup
Pickup is by appointment, in our reception area, between 5 pm and 7 pm. Your pickup date is set at the adoption application stage, on or after the kitten go home date.
We hold a kitten past an agreed pickup date at no charge.
We do not offer visits before pickup. Our cattery is a family home with newborn kittens and nursing mothers. Visits carry infection risk, and scent changes cause a mother to reject her kittens. This is normal practice among registered catteries. In place of visits we provide photographs, videos and a detailed profile page for every kitten.
Shipping
We ship within Canada through Air Canada and WestJet. The buyer pays all shipping costs, including the flight, the carrier and any veterinary certificate the airline requires.
Airlines refuse animal travel in extreme heat or cold. Where a flight is refused or delayed for the safety of the kitten, we rebook at the earliest safe date.
If we are unable to supply a kitten
Where a kitten becomes unavailable through illness, death or a decision to keep it in our breeding programme, you choose between a full refund, including the deposit, or a place at the front of the queue for the next suitable litter.
For the life of the cat
Contact us at any time with a question. Where you are unable to keep the cat at any point in its life, contact us first. We take our cats back rather than see one go to a shelter. A return carries no refund, outside the health guarantee.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Nothing here removes a right you hold under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act.
